Chandigarh: Following Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s ‘Badlav Rally’ in Moga, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has launched a scathing verbal attack. Mann described the visit as “disappointing” for the people of Punjab, stating that the Home Minister remained silent on the most pressing issues of the state.
Silence on Core Issues
CM Mann pointed out that while Shah made several political claims, he completely ignored the long-standing demands of Punjab’s farmers. “There was no mention of a legal guarantee for MSP, farm debt waiver, or a special economic package for Punjab,” Mann stated. He questioned the Union Government’s commitment to the state’s welfare if these critical issues were not even addressed during a major rally.
The “Scooter Party” Jibe
Reacting to Shah’s announcement that the BJP would contest the 2027 elections solo, Mann mocked the party by calling it a ‘Scooter Party’. He remarked, “The BJP lacks a ground-level presence in Punjab. They don’t even have enough candidates to cover all 117 assembly seats. Before talking about winning alone, they should focus on finding candidates first.”
Standing Up for Punjab’s Rights
The Chief Minister emphasized that the Punjab government would continue to fight for the state’s rightful share. He urged the Central Government to release pending funds and address the genuine grievances of the farming community instead of focusing solely on political campaigning.
