Barnala: The ongoing LPG crisis and panic booking in Punjab took a tragic turn today in Barnala. A 55-year-old man, who had been standing in a long queue outside a gas agency on Ramgarhia Road, died after suffering a sudden cardiac arrest.
Incident Details
According to eyewitnesses, the deceased had been waiting since 6 AM to get a gas cylinder refill. After nearly four hours of waiting, he collapsed just as his turn was approaching. Bystanders rushed him to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. Medical experts cited extreme stress and a heart attack as the cause of death.
Public Outrage
The incident has sparked widespread anger against the local administration and the government. Protesters alleged that:
- Supply Issues: Despite having stock, some agencies are creating artificial shortages.
- Poor Management: No special arrangements or priorities are being given to the elderly or vulnerable in queues.
- Failure to Curb Panic: The government has failed to control panic bookings, leading to chaos and long wait times for common citizens.
Residents have demanded that the government immediately streamline gas distribution and provide compensation to the victim’s family.
